On Friday, May 20, 2016, of Pittsburgh.  Husband of Norma Walas; father of Adrian (Edward) Banaszak, Normi (William) Gerrish and Jon (Ping Lu) Walas; grandfather of Alexis (Tim Madden) Banaszak, Gail (Nathan) DeCoster, Tytus Gerrish, Thaddeus Gerrish and Yibin Liao.  Friends received at the John J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Ltd., 119 South 15th Street, Southside on Sunday, May 22, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  Funeral prayer on Monday morning at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Adalbert Church Prince of Peace Parish at 10 a.m. Mr. Walas was a proud Marine veteran of WWII.
