92, of the South Side, died peacefully at home December 26, 2025.
Beloved wife of Melvin, devoted mother of Eve Elizabeth (Nizar Sandi) and Donald Patrick (late Joyce Pittman), doting grandmother of Bryam and Nadia Sandi and Jessica and Royal Pittman and great grandmother of Kennedy Michel as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Not only was she preceded in death by her husband, but also her parents Elizabeth Boyle Watkins and Hubert John Caley and sister Inez Hasson.
Connie was a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy and Point Park Business Training College. She worked at J&L Steel for VP Paul L. Tietjen and enjoyed teaching ballroom dancing in her free time. After marriage, she joined her husband at his Army Post and began her family. Her faith and love for her church continued throughout her life as she took on various roles in her home parish Christian Mother’s and Women’s Guild.
Connie will be remembered for her warmth and smile that always lit up a room.
Friends and relatives will be received Friday January 2, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at John J Gmiter Funeral Home, 119 South 15th Street, S.S. Mass with Christian burial will be Saturday January 3, 2026 at 10 AM at St Adalbert’s Chapel, Mary Queen of Peace Parish.
Many thanks and appreciation for the wonderful and compassionate care provided to her by Hannah McKnight and Shanae Russell and the staff at Advanced Home Health and Hospice in her final months.
