Edward Michael Skeehan Obituary

Edward M. Skeehan, 97, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Bridgeville Rehab and Care Center. He was born on October 25, 1926 in Pittsburgh.  Son of the late Regis and Marie Skeehan. Edward was the beloved husband of Sandra Mazur Skeehan.  They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 16th.  He was predeceased by all of his siblings which included sisters: Margaret Mary Eannarino, Betty Russo, Patricia Kale and Alice Skeehan; and brothers, Regis, Raymond, Joseph, Phillip and David. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was a veteran of the Korean War. For over 25 years he was employed by the US Bureau of Mines. He devoted all of his retirement years to helping others.  He worked tirelessly for Veterans and Seniors in need of benefits. He was a service officer for Catholic War Veterans, Commander of his Post 1522 St. Adalbert Church and he would help to coordinate the Sharing and Caring annual boat rides for hospitalized Veterans. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Ed loved playing Santa Claus.  He would go to the VA hospitals, senior centers and private parties.  He also loved to fish and hunt.  

Family and friends received at the John J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Ltd., 119 South 15th Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15203 on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm where a blessing service will be held at 11:15 am. Burial at 1:30 pm at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
