"With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved “Grammy” Joan Gasiorowski, 89, of South Side, who passed away Tuesday, April 21st, surrounded lovingly by family. Preceded in death by parents Stella and John Navoney, sister of the late John (Amy) Navoney, Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and wife of the late Michael Gasiorowski. Joan is survived by her 7 children, Michael (Barbara), Glenn, Cindy (Joe), Shawn (Mary), Susie, Mark, Kevin, and her cherished 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Jason, Keith, Kate, Steven, Forrest, Paige, Alex, Noah, Emily, Jackson, Tyler, Brianna, Makenzie, Avrie, Aiden, Ethan, Gianna, Maxton, Ava, Ellie, Ford, Kase, Graham, and PJ who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Joan, known by everyone who loved her as Grammy, made every relationship with her children and grandchildren special. She was the heart and soul of the family, who made it a priority to keep up with the lives and interests of every single grandchild and knew every detail about them. Joan was a lover of many things, including spending time with family, Halloween, and sending birthday cards loaded with stickers to her loved ones, including her family dogs.
Joan touched the lives of many; she cherished her family, neighbors, and family friends alike. She had the gift of making everyone feel cherished, included, and welcome. She will be remembered and forever adored for the memories we share of being surrounded by her laughter, timeless wisdom, and her quick-witted remarks. The time we were able to spend with her will be eternally treasured, and the love she gave us so freely will live on in our hearts forever."
Friends received FRIDAY, April 24, 2026, 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the JOHN J. GMITER Funeral Home, 119 South 15th Street, South Side, Pittsburgh, PA 15203. A funeral prayer at 7:45 will conclude all services Friday evening.
