Maryann L Fliegel

Age 60; on Thursday, March 8, 2018 of South Side.  Daughter  of the late William and Leona (Bittner), Maryann is survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  During her courageous battle with cancer, Maryann was continuously supported by her friends, Debbie, Maryann, Patty, Jean, Laura, Claudia and Sue aka "The Fab 8."  Maryann was an employee in the Accounting Office of the Diocese of Pittsburgh for 42 years where she assisted and became friends with many parish bookkeepers.  She was always smiling and during her illness, her positive attitude was an inspiration to everyone.  Maryann had a huge heart and was always willing to help others.  Family and friends are welcome on Monday, March 12, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the John J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Ltd., 119 South 15th Street, Pittsburgh, PA  15203.  A Mass of Christian Burial with Bishop David Zubik presiding will be held at the Saint Adalbert Worship Site of Prince of Peace Parish on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; the American Cancer Society; or Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
