Rita G. Shaw

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, surrounded by her family, Rita passed peacefully at Family Hospice Canterbury Place.   She was the daughter of the late Michael and Genevieve (Melczak) Lubawski and loyal wife of the late George T. Shaw for 41 years.  Rita was the loving and attentive mother of George, Tom (Jan), Bob Shaw, and Donna (Ron) Cully.  She was grandmother to Melissa, Sarah, Leland, John, Michael, Matthew and great grandmother to eleven children.   Rita truly enjoyed her South Side, Pittsburgh neighborhood for many years and was a member of the former St. John Evangelist Christian Mothers and a devoted BINGO volunteer.  

Visitation at John J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Ltd., 119 S. 15th Street, 15203 on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  

A Mass of Christian burial, Friday, June 27, 2025, 10:00 am at Mary Queen of Peace Parish (St. Adalbert Catholic Church), 160 S. 15th Street, Pittsburgh, PA  15203

Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317
