Lifelong resident of the South Side, loving brother of Laura Zawicki and the late John, Stephen, Helen Filip, Walter, Stella Pietrzak, Monica Olszewski, Cecelia Dolata, Sophie Hinda, and Dorothy Siatkowski; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Bob served in the Army during the Korean conflict. Upon returning home he studied at the University of Pittsburgh while maintaining a full-time job at J &L Steel. After he graduated, Bob worked at Wean United as the Chief Electrical Engineer where he designed steel mills and trekked the globe supervising their installation. Some of his fondest memories were the incredible people he met, the exotic locations he had the chance to visit, and the various cuisines and delicacies he was able to sample on his journeys. Bob was also a man of routine: he always started his days with crossword puzzles and topped them off with a bottle of beer or glass of wine. Bob will be remembered as an incredibly thoughtful and gentle soul. Interment will be private. A memorial mass and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by John J. Gmiter Funeral Home, Ltd.
